You might know apple released its latest cellphone, iPhone 4S, which is not the iPhone 5, what most of apple fans expected. Yes, it’s the new personal assistant program, Siri, blew our mind. Technically, it can help the owner to do all the basic stuff, sending message, telling you the nearest restaurant and schedule a appointment. I have to admit when the first time I watched this video, I was really shock by it’s powerful function. I used to thought using the map app on my phone to search a restaurant nearby is really a convenience. I’ve never thought about one day I can get the traffic information by talking my cellphone when I am driving, all I need to do is telling my needs to my cellphone and let it handle the rest of things. Yesterday, I was even surprised by asking “ What’s the derivative of X squared plus 2X plus X cubed? ” to Siri, It represented a graph of derivative parabola to me. Those days, almost all the new iPhone 4S users are sharing their funny story with Siri on the Internet. They asked their iPhone sophisticated questions like “what’s the meaning of life?”; they let two iPhone 4S talk to each other; I even got a news of a CBS reporter conducted an interview with the iPhone 4S.
It seems humans are stepping into a age of nothing impossible, we can never predict what will happen tomorrow. We know nothing about our potential, and we create technology with limitless. No one can answer what will the future exactly look like. Yesterday, I was writing a paper about my imagery of future artificial intelligence. Today, It’s already applied on cellphone. Nothing is more surprised than this, witness the future we thought it’s only a fantasy.
I think everyone can agree that the Apple iPhone products are a step ahead in technology. I have never heard of the personal assistant program, SIRI, but from the video it looks like it becomes almost like a new best friend.
ReplyDeleteI think this idea really plays into the “almost-human theme” very well. This phone has the capabilities to talk to me, answer my questions, and always be there when I need it. It definitely almost feels “alive.” I wonder if this “talking” phone will ever get annoying. I remember an old toy, the Furby, and how I would get so frustrated with its babbling that I resorted to burying it in the closet. I know that this phone is quite different, but I’m interested to see how everyone reacts to in in the long run. It’s going to be interesting if the day comes when one can see people everywhere walking down the street talking to a phone with no other person on the line!
Needless to say, I am very excited for the new iPhone 5 to be released. I am counting down the days when my current phone contract runs up so I can try out the latest and greatest apple product and have a smartphone for the first time.
I see a lot of funny conversations online with siri which are like "can you marry me? -- My End User Licensing Agreement does not cover marriage. My apologies" and "Do you like hangout with me? -- i'd rather not say." LOL~ That is so funny! I even want to keep an iphone4S in case I can chat with her when I am alone.
ReplyDeleteWe can not reject 4S just because we expect the iPhone5. I don't have any idea about its superior technology quality, I am attracted by its appearance, which is exactly same as iPhone4. It is easily to find the data that iPhone has already control the market of the touch screen cell phone. That is why we expect more about iPhone product. The huge improvement from ip3 to ip4 let us know that Apple would never let us down. However, the same exterior doesn't mean no progress in interior or technology.
I am really interested in the new function which is siri. Like what said on the apple website about its specialism: "Siri not only understands what you say, it’s smart enough to know what you mean." It not only can complete the tasks you ask for but also can talk to you!
I will keep my eyes on this smart phone which is really smart! Maybe it has been already beyond the cell phone.
I agree that there are many interesting conversation between users and siri.The interesting one is the I Love you Conversation. One thing that I find that amused me the most is that siri is a female. I am not an apple fans but I think the product of Apple has created a huge impact of our lives. Anywhere in the street you can see people using Apple product.
ReplyDeleteIphone 4S might not be what people first expected but I am more concerned about the quality of the cellphone itself rather than it is a Iphone4 or 4s. The quality of signals which is a pretty big weakness of Iphone 4 and I wonder if they have improved the problem. The name matters but I think more important is the quality of the product.
I do not deny that siri is an interesting thing for the people who are not busy, but besides it, there is nothing attracts me at all on iphone 4s. Especially the screen size, 3.5 is too small for me, and I think it is too small for men also. Apple does not change the size in order to keep the highest ppi is not smart. I prefer a 4.3" 250+ppi smartphone rather than iphone4s. And the cpu, being the flagship of 2011, the cpu of iphone4s just reached the level of the flagship of samsung in the front year. Well, better camera is the funniest thing on this phone. Siri is not bad but it cannot hold the iphone4s. Apple needs more originality not just live by its past success.
ReplyDeleteSiri is really interesting invention. It is amazing smart. I saw lots of video on youtube that people try to talk to Siri. Most time siri can give a reasonable response. After people judge that the new iPhone didn't change a lot. I disagree with that conclusion. Jobs said, the hard ware is the body of a cell phone, but the software is the soul of cell phone. Actually, in software, the new iPhone had a huge development. Not only the siri, but also the iClound and technology about the camera. So I think this generation is successful.
ReplyDeleteThe video just blew my mind. It is crazy what a small little thing like that have achieved to do such complicated and elaborated tasks. I think that the application siri the iphone 4s is more than enough to gather peoples interests about it and is a big enough step it has done past the last model. Even though the exterior appearance has not changed the phone will probably be remembered as something revolutionary since it is the first phone who can actually to some degree converse with a human and give amazingly fast answers to a huge variety of questions. It is a great invention in my opinion and it will definitely control the market !
